Südwestkarton increases punching capacity again

Südwestkarton GmbH & Co. KG, based in Illingen, is consistently implementing its investment strategy and has strengthened its machine park with another flatbed die-cutter. This high-end die-cutter is particularly suitable for the production of high-quality transport and sales packaging and extends the existing die-cutting options.

The new flatbed die cutter has a fully automatic sheet feed, the power register for sheet alignment in the infeed with minimal tolerances and an electronic control and monitoring unit. The punch, which is suitable for almost all types of corrugated board, processes sheet formats from min. 520 x 730 mm to max. 1,300 x 2,100 mm for flute types E to BC flute.

The large-format flatbed die-cutter works with a fully automatic palletizing robot that can comply with all desired palletizing schemes. The periphery of the machine line with tool storage and transport in the cassette system is also designed for ergonomically efficient design and high productivity. Up to 7,000 sheets/h are processed fully automatically at the highest level from infeed to palletizing. An integrated camera monitoring system enables the punched blanks to be checked. With the internal order memory for up to 20,000 items, maximum precision is achieved.

After a new rotary die-cutter went into operation at the Panther Plant in Illingen in the last few months, this additional flat-bed die-cutter has now been installed and successfully put into operation. In April, the folder gluer area will be expanded to include the option of applying SK/AF closures for shipping packaging. Further measures to optimize productivity and quality are the renewal of the finished goods palletizer, which is planned for the middle of the year.

All new systems are designed for precision and have a high degree of automation, such as prefeeders, warehouse palletizing and robotic palletizing, which emphasizes the effort to be a competent, flexible and agile partner for all customers. The total investment for the measures is over 12 million euros.
