Printing capacities expanded - Panther Display strengthens offering in high-quality offset printing
The 5-color press plus coating unit for applying dispersion coatings is designed for a sheet format of 1,205 x 1,640 mm (7B format). The press features largely automated processes (such as video camera for register control), inline color measurement, and pneumatic plate stretching from the control console. All in all, the press features stable and verifiable quality results, short makeready times and high press speed. Thanks to the use of alcohol-free ink systems, production is environmentally friendly.
For the processing of Panther Display's customer orders, the use of the press means increased flexibility and responsiveness to requirements for highly finished secondary placement components and systems available as early as possible. The main contributor to this is a new large-format imagesetter that takes into account the high throughput of the press. The imagesetter is controlled directly from prepress. Processless printing plates make it possible to dispense with water and chemicals. If printing plates need to be re-imaged, this can be done directly on site and any necessary corrections can be transmitted via a data line from prepress. Overall, the new offset press and its peripherals (such as the ink supply system and a pile turner) are designed for fast, reliable and environmentally friendly supply of printing plates, and changes can be made flexibly and without long downtimes.
With the help of the Rapida 164, which will go into operation in August 2019, Panther Display is strengthening its competencies with regard to high-quality, individual display solutions that can be implemented in the shortest possible time. The benefits of the press - significantly shorter makeready times and a notable reduction in start-up sheets of almost 50% - predestine the offset press for all run lengths, from short to medium and long runs.
